Excellent bike for the price!. We went all over town to buy a 20″ 6 speed bicycle for our 7 yr old daughter. Kmart was the only place that had one, but the one they had was the last one and the rear wheel was bent on it. They weren’t getting any more in for almost 3 weeks. [..]- Great, we’ll take one! It arrived yesterday and didn’t have a scratch on it. Took about 20 minutes to put Pacific Evolution Girls Bike all together and then another 10 minutes to adjust the seat height, handle bar height and angle, and then to adjust the brake levers. The derailer needed a little adjustment that took my wife and I about 30 minutes to accomplish. The book that came with the bike gave very good instructions on how to make all the adjustments and I learned something new, so it wasn’t all that bad. The bike looks very nice, shifts nice and is just nice all the way around for only [..]. I would recommend this bike to anyone!
Bike in a box. Bike arrived mostly assembled in a retail box. The bike had several deep scratches on Disney Girls Bike and the nuts and bolts needed to assemble the bike were tossed in the box loose. At first I thought this was a return, but every still seemed to have factory wrapping. Why they could not put all the nuts, washers and bolts in a bag is beyond me.
The parts that were not assembled were not the most simple of items (handle brake, seat, tires, etc.). The instructions were terrible. When it came to the seat, something I figured would not be too difficult, I had to guess as to which parts to use as the instructions were not clear. Being a pretty handy guy, I was getting frustrated as I can be a tad OCD when it comes to making sure things are assembled correctly. My Father-in-law came over and he could not make heads or tails of the instructions either. Now that both of us were stumped was exceptionally rare.
Having parts left over, I kept them as I was sure I would figure out where they went to. They went to nothing structural as I would not let my kids play on an unsafe toy, but the instructions gave no indication as to where they went. I finally did find when they went as I noticed the grip on the hand break had an spot for a tightening screw and nut.
Over all, the bike is very solid and my daughter loves it. It wasn’t too hard to assemble, but clearer instructions would have made it a snap. I do wish they had invested in better packaging so that the amount of scratches and the risk of parts falling out of the box in shipping would be reduced.
This bike is horrible!!. I bought this bike from Amazon because Mongoose Domain Mens Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike was on sale for $140 and had average reviews. I spent another $30 to assemble it. The bike is really heavy and hard to ride. The tires are too wide and the bike broke after riding it couple of times. I have had this bike for almost year now and occasionally ride it. Do not believe the other reviews. This is crap.
Low Price Aluminum Trail Machine. The Bike came in a big cardboard box needs some assemblies. The Bike looks good but the owner’s manual is lousy and needs to be improved. Some instructions and pictures in the owner’s manual are irrelevant to the real installation. However, Kent Trail Machine Mens Dual Suspension Mountain Bike is pretty easy to figure out how to put the modules together. The brake and gear adjustments are the only things that may need you to call the manufacturer, Kent International. Kent International provides nice phone service to help walk you through the assembly. I suggest that they modify the owner’s manual with better pictures and clear writing about the installation procedure. Also suggest that they put the owner’s manual in PDF in addition to the installation assistance videos on their website for customers to download. Overall, with the price and quality, I am satisfied with the product.
